Neighbourhood Learning
The Neighbourhood Learning (NL) service currently provides over a thousand courses for adults of all ages and abilities at the Council’s NL Centres and at over 100 other venues across Cardiff.
The Cardiff Community Learning Network (CCLN) currently brings providers together for joint planning of learning across Cardiff.
This project aims to:
- Redesign the service on a neighbourhood management basis, with as much provision as possible through partner organisations
- Secure agreement, through a process of review and consultation on the priorities that will inform future Council NL provision and spending.
- Provide active management of the NL service during the transitional period to secure the full re-alignment of staffing, resources, facilities and curriculum to support the agreed priorities. The re-alignment of staffing will include revising the allocation of responsibilities and deployment of staff in consultation with Trade Unions.
- Establish a Partnership Support Unit which will, in future, facilitate and support adult neighbourhood learning across all CCLN providers in all parts of the city
- Determine, following a full review, which facilities should be used for delivery, secure a programme of investment for the retained facilities and manage the efficient disposal of surplus facilities
The project will also make a full appraisal of the Council’s potential contribution to the CCLN partnership in terms of its provision, infrastructure and facilities, and engage with the widest possible range of stakeholders through the Inclusion Cardiff extranet
