Local Training & Enterprise

A brief overview

Local Training and Enterprise – a community-based services gives assistance to employers with recruitment and training. The team also helps people secure employment in terms of jobs for unemployed people pr better jobs for those already in employment.

Local training & Enterprise is a lead partner in the development of vibrant local communities and the economy of Cardiff.  Working collaboratively with external agencies and council partners, we provide a quality assured service to job seekers throughout the County.  In addition, we strive to ensure that local employers have access to a high quality skilled workforce who can offer the transferable skills and flexibility necessary for the operation of a dynamic, cutting edge economy.

Local Training and Enterprise provides a range of services aimed at facilitating the access of individual jobseekers into the labour market and to work to meet the skills’ needs of the local economy.  To deliver these outcomes Local Training and Enterprise provides the following services:

  • Into Work (assistance with completion of CVs and application forms, interview techniques).
  • Assistance for employers with recruitment
  • A job brokering service to employers and their potential employees.
  • Short courses in a range of areas related to the needs of the local labour market.
  • Access to drop in ICT facilities
  • Workshops for start up businesses
  • Daily access to Job Centre Plus vacancies
  • Interview rooms available to employers
  • Training rooms available to training providers, employers and other agencies.
  • Job search with access to the internet
  • Provision of personalised email addresses allowing clients to access vacancies and apply for appointments using this system

Partners

Many Local Training and Enterprise services are provided through partnerships with external agencies including: Jobcentre Plus, the Prince’s Trust, Careers Wales, Training Providers, The WEA, Broker Cymru, and many others.

St. David’s Partnership

Local Training & Enterprise is working in conjunction with Land Securities, Capital Shopping Centres and Jobcentre Plus to engage and enthuse communities and individuals to consider Retail as a positive career choice.  Local Training and Enterprise working with the Cardiff Retail Training & Employment Partnership is currently providing relevant pre-employment training to potential applicants and helping retailers to match their needs with job ready applicants.

The recruitment website www.stdavids2jobs.com has now been launched and has attracted over 4,500 registrations since March 2009.
