About Inclusion Cardiff
Inclusion Cardiff is about really doing something about including the people of Cardiff in the development of services - and providing a way for anyone who wants to help with
social inclusion projects, either as a service user, professional specialist or representative of any organisation that may be affected by changes.
Cardiff Council’s
Social Projects & Development Team has developed this site in partnership with Internet specialists
Tribiq to promote social inclusion and share information through the use of an extranet. An extranet is simply and Internet site that provides authorised users with access to password protected areas. It supports an unlimited number of users who can become members of groups that have different access permissions, so that sections of the extranet are private and secure. The Development Team manages the content and administers and monitors the access rights, privacy and security of the all users and groups.
Inclusion Cardiff has a number of features that support collaborative working 24 hours a day, seven days a week from anywhere in the world:
- An important function is the private online document store, where we can share and work on documents together. Inclusion Cardiff also has a library of background reports and useful links that can be accessed and added to by the user community to become an important resource.
- The extranet provides a private learning environment which can inform and empower stakeholders by explaining about current projects with a facility to ask the project team questions – or join in
- As the secure areas are ‘embedded’ in a public site, there are also areas where visitors can be welcomed, asked for their views and ideas, or join in with a range of discussion forums
- Everyone has their own account, so the Inclusion Cardiff Development Team can identify each user as they log in, make sure they have the access permissions they need and compile statistics on usage
- The Development Team manages information within the requirements of the Data Protection Act by securely controlling who can read and export data and who can change it
- As content on the Inclusion Cardiff extranet can be updated, edited and changed instantly, all authorised users have immediate access to the most up to date information.
